This article series demystifies one of the fundamental aspects of Polarity Therapy: the five elements derived from Ayurvedic medicine.
These elements are dynamic flows that circulate within the body, each predominating in its own sphere of physiological and psychological activity.
Air is the central element of the five elements. It fuels Fire, nourishes Earth, and oxygenates Water. It represents the key to change. The master emotions of Air are satisfaction and dissatisfaction.
Air is symbolized by speed and movement. It relates to everything concerning social relationships (and social networks), communication, the environment, and beauty. It is the element where love resides. It is associated with the heart chakra, which is green in color.
The physical areas associated with Air are: the shoulders, arms, calves, ankles, and kidneys. The finger associated with Air is the index finger, and its corresponding toe is the second toe.
In balance, Air represents harmony, justice, diplomacy, and freedom. Air brings about the encounter and acceptance of its duality. It promotes adaptation to change. It symbolizes the expression of “I want,” desire, curiosity, and touch. Air does not feel, it understands.

An imbalance of the Air element will manifest physically through the immune system, dual organs (lungs, heart, brain, kidneys), sweat, skin, and lymph. Whereas on a mental and emotional level, one can experience anxiety, worry, relationship pressure, mental rumination, a loss of trust in humanity, or despair.
During the consultation interview, the Polarity Therapist takes into account the symptoms and discomforts reported in order to select the most appropriate session, based on the elements that need to be rebalanced.
