The Five Elements Underlying Polarity – Earth

Explore the Earth element: patience, courage, and grounding at the heart of Polarity Therapy.

This article series demystifies one of the fundamental aspects of Polarity Therapy: the five elements derived from Ayurvedic medicine.

These elements are dynamic flows that circulate within the body, each predominating in its own sphere of physiological and psychological activity.

It is with the patience of Earth that everything is accomplished

The Earth element invites us to patience and stability. Its challenge is to develop the courage to face our fears. Earth represents matter and provides security. It helps us unearth unmanaged emotions.

The Earth element is located in the neck and embodies strength (negative pole). This element is also found in the intestines, colon, and lower back (neutral zone), embodying service. Finally, its negative pole is found in the knees and embodies support.

The Earth element is associated with the adrenal glands, teeth, bones, and sense of smell. Earth is located in the root chakra, whose color is red. It is the densest element, and its energy is found in the little finger and the 5th toe.

When the Earth element is in disharmony, one may experience an excess or lack of control or possession of material things, a need for grounding, or a refusal of order and authority. This disharmony could manifest as resistance and rigidity.

During the consultation interview, the Polarity Therapist takes into account the symptoms and discomforts reported in order to select the most appropriate session, based on the elements that need to be rebalanced.
